China's TCL Corp sets up two new units for appliances and components

BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - TCL Corp (SZA 000100) has restructured its main
businesses and set up two new units,TCL Home Appliance Co Ltd and TCL
Electronic Component Co Ltd, the company said in a statement on its website.
After restructuring, TCL will have four units -- TCL Home Appliance, TCL
Electronic Component, TCL Multimedia Technology and TCL Communication
Technology. The last two are Hong Kong-listed.
Wang Kangping, a vice president, will be in charge of TCL Home Appliance
and vice president Zhao Zhongrao will run TCL Electronic Component.
Group chairman Li Dongsheng said TCL Corp will focus henceforth on
multimedia, telecom and home appliances while expanding into real estate
development, financial services and logistics.
Personal computers are no longer a main business for TCL, the company
said.
Earlier, the company agreed to sell an 82 pct stake in its personal
computer unit for 60 mln yuan to Hong Kong-based Changda Technology &
Industry Co Ltd.
