Singapore's StarHub in talks with bankers on listing in 2004 or 2005 - UPDATE
|
|
(Updating with background)
SINGAPORE (AFX-ASIA) - Starhub, one of Singapore's three
telecommunications companies and the only one still unlisted, said it has
been in talks about a potential initial public offering (IPO) and listing on
the Singapore Exchange in 2004 or 2005, depending on market conditions.
""We have been talking to bankers all this while. A listing on this year
or the next will depend on market conditions,"" a StarHub spokeswoman said.
She added that StarHub has not given the mandate for its planned listing
to any banker as of yet.
Starhub chief executive Terry Clontz had said last October that he did
not expect the telco to do an IPO in 2004 ""unless market conditions change
dramatically.""
StarHub is 50 pct-owned by Singapore Technologies Telemedia, with the
rest held by media companies Singapore Press Holdings and Media Corporation
of Singapore, and telcos NTT Communications of Japan and BT of the UK.
