HONG KONG (AFX-ASIA) - eForce Holdings Ltd (943.HK) and Culturecom Holdings Ltd (343.HK) said they plan to jointly exploit a version of the Linux operating system known as Midori, developed by NASDAQ-listed Transmeta Corp.

Upon the proposal, eForce will transfer 51 pct and Culturecom 49 pct in Chinese 2000 Holdings Ltd to Chinese 2 Linux (Holdings) Ltd.

Transmeta will licence exclusive rights to Midori to a wholly-owned unit of Chinese 2 Linux.

Chinese 2 Linux will in turn issue new shares to eForce, Culturecom and Transmeta.

The exact shareholding in Chinese 2 Linux has not been determined by eForce, Culturecom and Transmeta.

Midori was designed for removable electronic appliances and embedded device applications software.

According to the plan, Midori will be launched globally, with initial focus on Asian markets including China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
