DJ MARKET TALK: Yip's Chemical Likely To Fall; Lower 2H Profit

1428 [Dow Jones] Yip's Chemical (0408.HK) likely to reverse midday gains in afternoon after reporting 19% on-year drop in FY net profit to HK$224.2 million. Implies earnings for 2H ended March sharply lower vs 1H net profit of HK$158.0 million. But may get some support from final dividend at 17 HK cents/share, together with interim dividend makes full-year DPS unchanged at 25 HK cents, implying payout ratio of close to 60%, which highest in recent years. Stock +7.1% at HK$4.22 midday, likely due to some investors betting on strong results given company's solid track record, with earnings steadily climbing in each of past 4 years; unfortunately such streak comes to end, though blame can't be put on management squarely given Yip's' 2H corresponds to post-Lehman Brothers worldwide financial turmoil, economic downturn.(RLI) Contact us in Hong Kong. 852 2802 7002; MarketTalk@dowjones.com (Delayed by 1 hour) -0- Copyright (c) 2009 Dow Jones & Company, Inc.
